2013 Satellite Conference

Welcome to the web site for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Satellite Conference for Direct Readout, GOES/POES, and GOES-R/JPSS Users, which is being planned for 8-12 April 2013 in Miami, Florida.

This innovative joint conference will be a merging of the Satellite Direct Readout and GOES Users' Conferences from past years, expanded to include JPSS customers and users as well.

The theme for this meeting will be “Strengthening Partnerships to Enhance User Readiness, Reception, and Utility.”

This five-day conference will consist of invited oral and poster presentations with emphasis on bringing together researchers, scientists, operational forecasters and broadcasters, and applications developers interested in better understanding and maximizing the use and impact of environmental satellite data, information and products.

The following outcomes are expected:
  1. Enhanced interaction, coordination, and communication between and among environmental satellite programs.
  2. Improved user access, reception and readiness for data, technology and applications from current and future polar-orbiting and geostationary environmental satellite constellations.
  3. Improved use of environmental satellite data by leveraging science advances, data fusion, blended products, decision aids, advanced visualization, training, instrument and product calibration and validation, and new data assimilation techniques.
  4. Reduced costs of participation, travel and logistics by combining the Satellite Direct Readout, GOES and POES/JPSS communities in one conference.
  5. Recognition as the premier environmental satellite users’ event in the Western Hemisphere.
Stay tuned for more information in the months ahead!
